Yaletown Skies and Feel Good Vibes.
I met Mara when we both worked at lululemon way back in 2013. I knew I met someone special when, after knowing me for only a short time, she took it on herself to take me out for a coffee one day when I was feeling very challenged in my decisions. Our bond of friendship has lasted the years, and when she asked me to photograph her wedding, the only answer that could ever be mustered was a yes.
Mara and James met when they were 18 years old and a full decade later they decided to tie the knot in a beautiful venue, The Loft in Earls Yaletown.
It was a beautiful day for a wedding, as Mara and James' families gathered together in the morning at The Opus Hotel in downtown Vancouver. We went from the hotel to the stunning Yaletown Seawall where the portraits were captured.
The ceremony was officiated by Mara's closest friend, Liz, and there was not a dry eye in the house as the moments began blending together. The parents of the bride and groom presented the wedding rings to their respective new family member in a symbolic gesture of welcoming them home. The moments crescendoed into a beautiful first kiss, as the new couple walked down the isle together, for the first time.
This wedding couldn't have been possible without the help of my good friend and superstar photographer Ben Owens. His work as my secondary shooter was invaluable and some of his pictures help fill out the story below.
